Friday 11th December 2015 – Dopolavoro Dining Room, the gourmet restaurant of the JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa, has been awarded its first Michelin star by Michelin Guide 2016. A great success for Chef Giancarlo Perbellini, who gained the Michelin star for the Dopolavoro restaurant, which is set on the new JW Marriott resort’s private island of Isola delle Rose in Venice.
The name Dopolavoro, which means ‘after work’ in Italian, says it all. After a day exploring the labyrinth of Venice’s treasures, after a long immersion in the pleasures of our Spa, after all this marvellous ‘work’, it is time to take a rest amid the flavours of the cooking of Chef Giancarlo Perbellini, from Verona. Guests are welcomed into the original structure of a building constructed in 1936. Today it is the realm of one of the most acclaimed chefs in Italy, ‘an artisan cook’ as he likes to describe himself, who combines a mastery of the tradition with virtuosity and measure to renew the country’s great cuisine.
A great success with three Stars assigned to Giancarlo Perbellini in the Michelin Guide 2016: two stars to “Casa Perbellini”, his restaurant in Piazza San Zeno (Verona) which opened one year ago, and the first star for the “Dopolavoro Dining Room”, whose “brigade” is coordinated by Federico Belluco.
“We are proud of this recognition gained just 6 months after the opening, – explains Cristiano Cabutti, Director of Sales & Marketing at the JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa – A great achievement for our resort, which invests in excellent dining offerings for our guests, who are looking for unique gourmet experiences.”
“I am delighted for this success – confirms Chef Giancarlo Perbellini – It is the result of a fantastic year, and a sign of our innovation and challenges.” Also the opening of the “Dopolavoro Dining Room” has acquired a result over the expectations. “We couldn’t expect better – confirms Perbellini – The beauty of the location, the power of a company like Marriott, which trusted and sustained the project, have been the perfect combination to achieve this amazing result, with a dining experience which enhances the tradition of the surrounding area. Thanks to the whole brigade and team – and in particular to Federico Belluco – who left Casa Perbellini for this new challenge”.
